I have inherited a bonsai tree, does anyone have some advice of how to care for it correctly? I am not sure it looks very healthy at the moment. Thank you in advance.

We need photos from all four sides to advise where to chop off the dead parts which could be done now. Repotting should be left to the active growing season when it can rejuvenate outdoors. If you click on your Icon in the upper right corner and add your location, people can give advice customized to your climate.

This plant is a Ficus microcarpa not a schefflera the top half looks dead and the coconut coir soil it is in is not good.

Keep an eye on the watering letting it dry a little between watering, but not bone dry and repot when the tree is actively growing in the late spring early summer.

Use a free draining bonsai soil when you repot.

Looks HALF.

Healthy as living...

Except the dead part.
