What’s your latest Bonsai related purchase?

I just ordered an used Yamaaki (3rd gen Toshio) bonsai pot directly from a Japanese website (first time doing this).
If I compare the price I paid (even including the costs for shipping) with prices on Ebay and the like I think I made a very good deal.

The size is: 18.8cm x 18.8cm x 12.5cm (WxDxH)

Grampa's Weeder tool to pull dandelions. WWIII is going well so far, but more battles lie ahead. I know it's not bonsai related, but you can't have a beautiful maple and conifer garden with weeds polluting the lawn!

Aoi joined the BNut community today. Fresh off the truck from Issaquah, WA
Said to be grafted to JBP but I thinks it's p. Strobis which would be fine.
There might be some inverse taper that was hidden with soil in the eBay pictures, but I think it will bark up just fine eventually.

I guess dothistroma and the candles are all rubbery and bent over from the flight in being all wrapped in plastic, dark and snug.
Still, will hit them with Daconil after while.

Looks nice and green, nice tree 👍

This is meant for Canadians .I’m aware Americans use Napa . Absorbent, but availability is limited in Canada . Several products are avail in the auto repair industry , but Covid messed availability up and what’s in the bag became inconsistent , especially size wise . Seems to be getting better ,but the above product is a good mixture of DE and Monty clay . As stated on the bag . And consistent availability several locations . Princess auto is cheapest . Retail store . Or online

Today another travel around nurseries 😁. So came back home with 4 new Japanese Maples to add to my collection. A young Emerald lace with very little leaves, a little murasaki kiyhoime (very very little leaves), a little JM they were selling as bonsai (two poor branches, but I really love the Yellow/Pink colour of the leaves, maybe an Hybrid) and a big tree of a cultivar I was searching for...Mystic Jewel (an Hybrid of Acer oliverianum)..really happy 😉

These are...Mystic Jewel will arrive tomorrow, they will pick up the tree for me (so I don't have picture of It)

18 rolls of shipping tape from Amazon at half the price of Scotch shipping tape. Supposedly it's not the very cheap but thin and prone to break tape.
I will report on quality when I get my hand on it.

Ok, it'arrived my Mistic Jewel JM...I really love It, it's incredible to have on the same tree a so different leaf colour, and the leaf have a velvet surface...

So bit of a impulse buy . You simply do not see these elms here . Zone 4 Ottawa Canada , was in the corner of a tree nursery . Amongst other stock . Pot is a 6 gallon . There was a discussion with the manager. About the obvious branch tip . Die back . Winter kill to me . They were concerned why seems slow to bud . It is obvious to me it’s alive . Lots of active buds and green cambium. Anyway a 50 percent off deal was struck . This is new territory for me . Never had a Chinese elm . All I know is it’s a desired small leaf cultivar . I’m assuming the bulge in the trunk below the branches is a graft . Sight . Perhaps someone with more experience can speak to this . My first thought is . Multi trunk air layer at the graft . Like I said impulse buy . But it’s rarity here meant I was not leaving without it . The other is a Dark Druid Taxus . To go with the 2 I have . These are really growing on me . They have very dark green foliage in summer and dark bark . There a dwarf cultivar that is a cross . Between Japanese and English yew . Sympathy purchase . As was expecting my long waited for JWP delivery . From iseli . But delayed till next week
