Murraya paniculata - orange jasmine. Eight month from seed. I picked up a fallen off "berry" in a nursery. It had a pit consisting of two half round seeds. Both sprouted and grew over winter under the lights in a terrarium. One started to bloom.20240506_052846.jpg20240506_052925_01.jpg

Very cool! I've been on the hunt for one of these, just haven't found anything but small ones.

Kate, you are in for a treat!
These make great bonsai: I started one from a 3" seedling in 1988 as a present to my new boyfriend (coming up on 36 years together in August!).
I trained it as a cascade and it was a gorgeous fragrant joy until our greenhouse fire in January 2019.
I promptly started a new one (so now 5 years old). Mine have bloomed at least 3 times per year. Because the leaves are compound, they require a lot of disciplined pruning. Watch for wire cutting into quickly swelling branches in the summer. Wounds from pruning heal very quickly.

a project of mine is the growing of Canada plum . Prunus Nigra . Pics are to show the distinction in the flowers . First pic with more yellow is American plum. ( actually a hybrid natural cross from a fruit orchard nursery expected cross with European fruit tree May be unique cultivar ) but for this purpose the flowers are correct . The second pic is Canada . Note the red . These are also smaller and less of them . On some the flower pistols are also red but not mine so far , the hint of red/ pink in the petals is also supposed to increase as they fade. This is the first time they are flowering so we will see
