Yamasibon Kiwa - Bonsai diary

He actually kills a lot of trees, but doesn't often take the greatest specimens to begin with.

Yes but the difference is that he is not afraid of showing his failures.
And most of the yamadori he collects are indeed small plants, not big old shimpaku or California junipers.

This channel is so epic. So well done. Running water or rain in the background. Nature art. Peaceful. Don’t care about the low amounts of subtitles or the foreign tongue.

I really loved the micro tiny trees episode.

So well thought out and precise. The little tiny soil scoop for the small trees and the tweezers for the roots.

This below is an interesting episode, as he digs a Japanese Maple put in the ground 10 years ago over a tile. The shape of the tile makes it easier to fit the rootball into a small pot.
The "after" shot shows the results, amazing.

What I really love best about their videos Clicio is how much respect and attention he gives to even the smallest most insignificant plant. And how that subsequently elevates it into something beautiful. Lots of good tips and tricks as well, plus the rain sounds are very soothing. haha

10 year old hinoki cutting. Patience man patience......A few minutes in the crickets and birds start going off. Wonder if he filmed in 2 separate parts of the day, assumed anyway.

I really like these videos, they are so simple and so different from the ones we usually see : no comments, no annoying music, just the sound of nature and small modest plants that are highlighted ...
great sharing 👍

I agree, these are epic tutorial videos, and I too have viewed many of them.
No nonsense, no hype, right to the he point, not a sales guy, no endless talking, and NO annoying music.
He also shows complete respect in every aspect of the process.
I also believe I saw a notation that he only collects from his own land, but I might be mistaken and saw it on another channel.

Yes, exactly.
In one of his latest videos he confirms he only takes plants from his own land or with a legal permission, but most of the time it's within walking distance (up the mountain!) of his nursery.

@Clicio
I'm going to get this pot to you when "things settle down".

I appreciate your signature line, so no worries about any $.

The next transaction I hope to talk about with you is this one where we find the most reasonable weight and size for shipping pots very safely to you so I can, "reverse Escobar" if you're interested.

Thank you very much for your support.

I'd love to reverse Escobar safely!
It's a deal, @sorce.

Yay yah! Hori hori used…..I have one and love it, by Fiskars. One of the greatest garden tools I own. I don‘t see them used often.
