They’ll live.

our long growing seasons make it very difficult to reduce Pondy needles. They also get needlecast easily. Due to our humidity.

RMJ are also less happy in our humidity. An approach that works is to graft shimpaku foliage onto RMJ trunks, and they’ll be fine.

I have both of those trees for the past year here in South Louisiana and both have survived without any signs of decline and in fact went through Hurricane Ida in late August. Yamodori from Black Hills. Though I was somewhat hesitant to “import” these two specimens to such foreign territory it certainly has been rewarding to have success thus far
