I have searched in google but I seem to get the same few pictures repeated over and over. I don't have access to any bonsai books right now, so I'm just looking online. Do you guys have a site or a group of sites that you use to look at mature deciduous trees? I am looking for pictures of them in their dormancy so I can begin to get a better idea of how branch structure is made as well as what position branches generally need to be wired in. Thanks!

Go outside and have a look around...

I constantly scan while driving, but I don't have much time to get out and walk around with school, unfortunately. I have a beautiful oak in a broom style that I want to photograph and post when the leaves fall off, as well as a couple mature flat-top bald cypress.

While I'm thinking about it and without making another thread, I'm sure you've seen pond cypress in the middle of a pond with a swollen trunk base. They wouldn't survive being collected, would they? There is a pond near the road that has some beautiful cypress that I would love to collect, but I don't want to kill them.

You might also google search for kokufu-ten and sakufu-ten exhibitions to see some bare d-trees. The shows happen in February and November, respectively.

On cypress, yes they have a high survival rate. I'd love to collect a few myself. Be sure you have permission from the land owner. Then call me, I'll come help!

Thanks! I am going to try and find out who owns the land, and I'll try and get a picture for you. It's really beautiful, even if it is next to a major-ish highway.

I usually go to this blog page for inspiration for wiring my deciduous trees.

I'll check it out, thanks a lot!

Google maple bonsai. Then click on images at the top of the search page. I do this all the time when wanting to find bonsai images.
