Wiring damage

@leatherback the low price range shown probably make for a good start. Only thing that stands out is trunk thickness compared to young trees, for my understanding at least. I guess it's really a matter of taste. Some trees look like a christmas tree and I am not looking to grow this shape.

@Shibui epic. Looks very natural. That's what I am looking for

@dbonsaiw yeah, I'm just making up words.
the price range for the very deep low end of retail bonsai DOES only rely on size. That is why you can’t judge much about bonsai from looking at them. At this point in you understanding of bonsai you don’t know what you don’t know.

Better stock trees have similar price points but also come with better nebari tapered and sometimes branching

You can’t really understand bonsai with such a limited view. If you have a bonsai club or exhibit near you visit them. The club can have beefed tree for less money and the knowledge to help you out.

Not sure I understand what your concerns are, still. I am still slightly concerned you might be missing a key bit of information re. growing a bonsai. The stage that your plant is at right now, the exact shape and presence of small branches should not be of concern, as you will need to build a trunk and nebari first.
Where in western germany are you located?
At the end of April the NRW bonsai days take place in Mulheim.
On Saturday I will be there, and will give a demo on bonsai.
But at some point I will for sure have some time to discuss trees if interested; Just reach out to me if you are there.
