i forgot about those guys. the small one rooted, but i didn't like the way it looked and tossed it. the larger of the two made it to 2020, but got tossed because i didn't like the way it looked.Very nice.

What are those jagged growths on the new branches? That almost follow the branch along like a long fin. I see that on some 1-2 year old sweetgums I’d like to yamadori on my property but I’m not sure if that’s supposed to be there or if it is fungal or something?i had plucked some leaves covering the trunk earlier in the year just in case any more buds wanted to pop
