Wigert extra large BC

I saw those as well. Some of them are quite nice.

Not for nothing, they also have a great pot selection.

Those are pretty nice

Those are excellent collected BCs and worth the prices being asked IMO--they all have loads of character in their trunks and buttressing. However, if you're north of the Mason/Dixon and decide to get one, you'd better have an enclosed place to overwinter it, like a garage, cold crawl space or cold greenhouse. Fla. -collected BC don't fare as well as BC from more Northern portions of the species range. I've got La. and Texas collected BC. Both don't have an issue with winter. I've had Fla. collected BC that faded away after four or five winters.

Interesting that while they have nice caliper, they dont have the kind of deep butressing you see in wild collected trees.
Some may, some not. After collection, the nebari on BC is buried deep to prevent it from drying out, so there appears to me to be a lot of buttressing under the sphagnum moss on the surface. Some trees don't have dramatic buttressing. I find extreme ridged buttressing a bit distracting on some BC. I'd rather have proportional taper on a trunk than cog-wheel buttress all the way to the top of a BC bonsai.

Wigert just added a bunch of extra large BCs to their web site. Those are excellent trees.
I don't mean to advertise for Wigert. I just like all things Bald Cypress.
Ok, I'm heading over now!!!:D

They are nice but I got a better deal from Cajunrider... I'll stay with him until he moves to PA...🤣

Below is a video from Wigert tells us the reason why. Those collected in the video are field grown BCs. They look very similar to BCs I see grown on dry land in parks all around my area. These are similar to one I collected in high ground.
Franco has some buttresses but no flutes.

Wigert field grown collection
