Wht to do with buckeye?

I'm jumping the gun a bit but since I tend to change my mind dozens of times I need some lead time. lol.

I have an Ohio buckeye that I collected two years ago and put into a pond basket. It is coming along nicely and I plan to put it into a bonsai pot in the spring.

When I first potted it up, it had a fairly upright orientation.



Over it's first winter, it was loose enough to develop a strong lean.



I had planned to straighten it more upright when I repotted but when I showed that to some folks in my local club they said I should leave it at its current angle. What do you guys think? Below is a photo shoot I took last weekend showing the current angle and my plans for change.

Ok, I hadn't considered that. I am now! BTW, that root is long gone. I only kept it at first because it had so few roots.

Update on this guy. Part of the trunk died and had mushrooms growing out of it last fall but it is growing strong right now!
