Where do you guys get your stones?

As everything has said, don’t get “stones”, get jagged/rugged rocks. Here are some of the rocks I used this spring to start trident and JM ROR projects

Those are some good looking rocks there!

I know Dasu Bonsai has lacerock for sale. If one is wanting to actually purchase some stone.
Oooohhh I was gonna ask where does one buy lace rock lol, I love them because they are light weight and you can easily carve it to whatever shape you like. Thanks

And you won’t believe how I managed to arrange the roots on all of them! I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but I may have some of the best locally grown ROR trees in South Africa in a few years 😉
I'm very much looking forward to seeing what you create! I was looking over the tridents I did earlier this year and I'm very impressed how much they have grown since then. I think one more year and I should be ready to chop down to start the tapering process. I think the trunks will be good size for mame by then.

This one has a little cave on the side, the seedling I used had a perfectly formed root that doubled back on itself and fitted perfectly into the little cave and then came back out and down the side of the rock. The other roots fitted snugly down the backside on the left and then peaked back to the front of the rock under the sticky-out bit that the tree was perched on

Looks like building rubble -- don't suppose there's dressed stone thin enough to tote home & use?
It’s about 1/3 HIGHWAY AND building rubble.. but MUCH slate, shale and other big, jagged lake slab... I counted 7-8 “Large WORTH-IT slabs” and like 3-4 “WORTH it ROR candidates”.. buuuut my little Honda Fit was already packed to the gills. 🤓

This would make a nice slab 61DDF431-3CA0-4FB1-A536-FF0057D2D6B6.jpeg
And flip this over to use as a display for slab lol.

You all have gotten my all excited about rock hunting again.
Something to keep me off the streets this winter.
Yeah don’t go approach suspicious types of people for rocks
