When is the best time to wire your bonsai tree? Also is it better to prune most of the leaves away so it’s makes it easier to do ?

There'll be a best time for Fukien.

I like to think when the leaves fall off within the first week of bringing it home (cuz that's what they do) is the best time! Since the leaves are gone already!

You'll get every answer.

The best general time to wire is ....
Carefully, when you can.

And the best time to remove wire is...
Carefully when you need to.

"Carefully".....
Generally means....Sober!
Lol! But also every "carefully" there can be!

"Can"...also very specific.
Healthy, pliable, have good wire, etc....

Defoliation, or leaf removal...
Is generally a no-no.

Off subject about the timing of wiring....but conversational about the tree. I’m curious.....
What kind of soil is that tree planted in? All organic fibers?

And, what’s the inverted bottle pushed in near the trunk base?.....Water? Fertilizer? Something else.....does it work?

Before wiring, are you planning some branch pruning and growth of the existing branches? Or...is your plan a smaller sized tree...in that case I’d probably first remove unwanted branches so it’s less of a bush (if kept small sized)...then examine if wire is needed at this size growth stage. Are you thinking of a larger sized tree for the goal?

There’s a word I always associated with wire on Fukien trees....Snap!
You have to take care when wiring the tree. My branches seemed to break easily....or just never hold position when wire was removed. I didn’t have a problem figuring out when to wire.....like @sorce said....when I moved the tree the leaves methodically fell off giving me room to wire and snap branches. I’m not so gentle I guess.

You can wire just about any time of the year if the bends aren't too extreme, or if you don't break anything.

Sure you can wire whenever, just be careful not to break branches and buds...
And I'd avoid wiring , unwiring and rewiring in the same year...unless you're talking about green shoots... Those you'll have to remove the wire same year.

I want growth from my tree but just unsure about wiring ect Fukien lol does it matter about doing it later on or is it best to do on branches while there small ?

As you can see the trunk has been chopped at top and have three branches coming off where it’s been cut would you let them grow or control there direction ?
