Well, I actually bought a tree from the “bonsai” section of the nursery. A Mercedes beech, which is one of the cultivars my teacher told me to look out for.

Graft is not great but that’s okay as I’m planning a ground layer. Anyone read the Oishii article in Bonsai Focus 115?

Now order a new fence and replace the fence between me and my neighbour then start building new benches

Picked up a few odds and ends at Kokufu and Tokoname. 24 pots, a couple of books, cut paste. It pays to have them packed properly. All arrived without any breakage. The Kinbon book on JWP just requires a bit of translation. Will need to take some time with google translate in order to pick up on the details of development and styling presented in the Japanese version.

Got an Asian pear today … Love the nebari on this thing.

I picked up a pot that the texture and colors intrigued me. The chop... makes no sense to me. The sellers initials are NC. so... I'm curious if he has a business he goes under not named. Nick Chira was the seller. No clue.
