Upgrade problems

Just thought I would start a thread about problems people are encountering after the upgrade (if any).

After the latest one, I lost all the usual links (shortcuts) below the "Bonsai Nut Home Forums Photo Galleries Bonsai Links" line.

I miss the "newly updated threads" feature though I know I can get something similar via the "Home page" and via "Activity Stream". I also miss the "Today's Threads".

Lacking these features...I think is resulting in reduced traffic.

Advanced Search is also giving me these error messages.

I put a new "What's New" tab in the menu bar at the top, which should have all of your requested sub-menus beneath it.

Additionally, I put a "What's New" menu item in the menu block on front page of the site on the left.

The two social bugs I was aware of last night, but was too tired to fix I'll try to nail those down today.

Just a note that the old location is better for me just because you can click it right away after you post. Now it it is couple steps. Minor thing but just FYI.

By the way - most of these errors are not me They are related to the security upgrades on the site.

Back in September vBulletin had a huge security hole that led to one of the biggest bulk web site hacks in the history of the Internet. Over 35,000 sites were compromised, including BonsaiNut. vBulletin released a series of patches/upgrades that I don't believe were fully tested. The errors you are reporting have been reported on other sites as well.

Good news is that other people are having the problem, I should hopefully be able to fix it more quickly

Those social bugs should now be fixed.

Advanced search should now be working as intended.

Keep the bugs coming if you find others!!

I have had problems getting pics to upload sometimes, and when they do, they wont attach to the post. I use Chrome for what it is worth.
Is it better one way or another to post pics from Photobucket or similar vs. upload on Bnut?

Try again Lordy and see if you can replicate the problem.

I recently upgraded ALL the software on the site. I use PhotoPost for our photo galleries and that section of code hadn't been updated in a while. It is brand spanking new, so I am hoping it may be a little friendlier toward other OS.

There is a new tab at the top (and left side menu) titled "What's New?". Click on that tab and you will see a lot of sub-menu options including activity stream, new posts, etc.

I believe "new posts" is what you are referring to?

I miss the old new posts, now the what's new shows me each individual post instead of each thread that has been updated. I have to scroll down thru a lot of content that I may not be interested in that thread. Can you place the new posts button back in? That is how I have always looked at content here, and it's a lot more efficient for the way I use the site.

I think you may be looking at the wrong navigation section but I want to make sure.

Click the "What's New?" tab and underneath it click on "New Posts". I believe this is what you are asking for(?)

Yes it is, but it's a two step process now each time I am done reading a new thread. I miss the simple 1 key shortcut.

I think everyone misses the single click shortcut. PLEASEEEE (if possible)

I just tried to attach pics too. It wont allow me to drag and drop to the section where it actually posts them from.

Lordy, your attachments appeared just fine on the other thread. Unfortunately I forgot that because that thread was in "announcements" it was moderated, and I had to manually approve the attachments before they would show up.

Bug slaying still in action!

Thanks for adjusting the what's new.

I'm still having issues attaching. It finally took the photo, but instead of putting it in the attachment box, it put it up in my archives. Then it wouldn't drag down, but there was some text in the attachment box. I finally closed the window, then went back to it and was able to drag the photo into the box.

I posted this elsewhere by mistake.

I got an email from Vance Wood. He can log in but cant post. The site wont accept his posts. He also cant PM anyone at all. He thought it had something to do with his email. He changed his email but it didnt work so its the site.
