Update on my Big Azalea drastic cut

that trunk looks to have many good options; may be a challenge to avoid bad scarring when removing the unwanted trunks, I'm looking forward to seeing its progress

Hey @Shorty54 .

I was hoping you'd get some Azalea pro answers, cuz I ain't one, more one for two, if you know what I mean!

Anyway, I been looking at my living one, and have been contemplating chop spots, so that's my background, and A Johng video or 2.

So I think,....you should stub out those 3 trunks and get 2 solid trunks off of each. 3 on 1 or 2 if it pops right.
Give those a couple years and go from there. Stubbing those back for apexi and branches when they are ready.
3 trunks, 6-9 sub trunks with branches.

1/2 size of the previous, 1/3? IDK

You gotta get rid of those five shots IMO. Those multipushes.
And at least encourage those young branches to go the right way when you get to them.

I like this material, I think you could improve on it greatly!

And they say they like it shady, mine been in my noon-sundown oven and has been fine. I think a bit more sun could shorten your internodes, and increase your options!

Again I ain't no pro, but you know I like your snake!

Are there coming more updates on this? I have saved a thrown away plant with a simular structure, i will be spying on this thread to copy your style. Are you going to chop more next year?
