I'm guessing this is princess persimmon, but it also looks a little like the related "evergreen persimmon" cathayensis. Need better photo to tell. There is no way to know about the fruiting behavior from a picture.

Persimmons grow wild and crazy here. Thanks for sharing and giving me more option to collect.

Here are some better pics … I also have another one that looks to be the same type of persimmon. I don’t think these are PP as the leaves are more round and also the fruit and the trunks are black. These were imported from Japan recently.

Yeah that's Tokiwagaki "evergreen persimmon" Diospyros cathayensis. It doesn't drop its leaves, right? They are less cold hardy than P.P. in a container FYI. I don't let mine freeze.

There is not much published about cathayensis in Japanese. This is a translation of a chinese book specifically on cathayensis (it all applies to P.P. as well so I assume you need a male)

ABOUT GOLD MARBLES

Scientific name: Diospyros cathayensis, bottle orchid. It is an evergreen shrub or small tree with beautiful flowers, fruits, stems and roots, and has high ornamental value. The golden bullet is dioecious, so there are two types: fruit-bearing or non-fruit-bearing, and occasionally monoecious, which is a good material for making bonsai.

Flowers When male plants bloom, the flower shape is like a small vase, with no claws at the bottom of the flower. When the flower opens, the male stamens and pollen can be seen. When female plants bloom, there are only one or two flowers under each leaf bud, which are larger than male flowers. After the flowers bloom, the flower claws are like persimmon flowers, and young fruits can be seen inside the flowers. Whether it is female or male flowers, you can smell a faint orchid fragrance. That's why it is also called a vase orchid.

The leaves are divided into large, medium and small leaves, and the leaves are shiny and thick. There are very few small-leaf fruit piles, which are usually male piles.

Well, it looks hideous with the tree. I'm sure you have one that would suit it better, so just send that one to me. 😇
Would you take a purple one instead? I normally don't like purple pots, but the right purple could look good on this soft shape.
