Ok so I’ve been MIA on the forums for awhile and I’ve seriously mistreated my plants... but I just started today taking better care of them and I’ve found something that I’m worried about.

It looks like some sort of nest I think? I’ve found them on my maple my elm my crabapple and another one of my plants (I’ve forgotten the name...)

Any idea of how bad it is or how to treat it would be very helpful.

I would take it to a local nursery and see if they know.

Thanks I’ll do that. I broke one open and it was empty but they could be old.

I was negligent this winter/ spring. I’m lucky they are still alive. I’ve got a lot of dieback on my maples. But I’ve been watering them consistently again and I just stared fertilizing again today

If it was attached to the trees then I don’t know what this is. If it was just dangling then it could be a heavily degraded seed pod from a liquidambar or a dogwood.

Yes looks like an old seed head fallen from some other plant - take a look above and near your growing area and you might spot where it fell from !!

I thought that too I have a couple dogwood trees very close by but I also saw a misshaped one on the branch of the elm.
