Thought i'd share a few pictures. On the left is my Ume, i've owned it since 2000 it came from a group of cuttings a friend gave me off a tree which he says came from japan in the early 90's. I grew it in the ground for about 6 years and in flats from then on. It's flowered every year, it's blossoms smell of strong cinnamon. It's flowers are a rich right pink with yellow to white stamens. Last year I changed its planting angle from an informal upright to a semi cascade or leaning style and had Dan Barton make the pot it's in now. The branching will be reworked in the coming years, the nebari's somewhat covered with soil right now but it spreads almost to the edges of the pot. On the right is a punica granatum nana which began from an import back in 2001. The turquise lotus pot is antique tokoname I forget the maker. The painting is an old chinese scroll my wife picked up in the silent auction at the BSOP xmas party earlier this december.

Very nice Ben, I love that Barton pot. I like the strong color of your blooms too.
And your pomegranate makes me want one....

They both look great....I really like the one on the right.

Nice. Love the color on the ume. The one's I have are white and light pink.

I'll take some cuttings of it this year, if they root I'll bring you a few Bob.

It looks like this woman's Peggy Clark http://piedmontgardener.com/2012/01/18/a-cultivar-conundrum/ Peggy Clark is known to smell like cinnamon but most Peggy Clark are a pale not vivid pink.

After a little digging through my old notebooks I found the name he called it Kagoshimabeni.

Hi Ben,
I just took a look its flower again. I recognize it has double layers and it is almost as same as the Early Flowering Peach flowers which I has; except the peach flower has more layers and it does not bloom at this time.

Yes it's quite unique, that peach flower is beautiful as well! I love the pink/red color it has. It is quite similar to my Ume.
