Really great tree. If you're after a pot, what about a pot with bats?

Bats are considered good luck symbols in Japan and China. They can be found on bonsai pots as a motif.

That’s a great idea!, thanks for sharing the pics of these pots, I can totally see it in a bat pot now. I think it would definitely be fitting for this tree.
Thank you @rockm.

Sure! I think the yellow glazed pot in the first link is still up for sale. Don't know if it would fit size wise, though. You might need a bigger one.

First time seeing this amazing tree! Every day you smile at a tree and one day it smiles back... Well, that ain't no smile! None the less it's actually one of the most impressionable trees I've ever seen! One thing I will say is that the heavy filling in of ramification to the top is starting to distract from the main feature.

It’s interesting how the photos do make it look distracting and a bit too much, but in person not so. I think because it is a domed shaped canopy it makes the photos look different an optical illusion of sorts. It actually drives me nuts trying to get a picture of it with that happening.

Not to take away RockM suggestions on pot but Phillipe Torcatis I’ve seen make cool pots with skulls carved on the sides
I have seen quite a few of his pots that would look great with this tree, only issue is the size he makes them too small for what I would need. He most likely makes them smaller for shipping perhaps I believe he lives in France?

I think he would make a commission idk worth checking out .. but again up to you

FWIW, That's a little "on the nose" for this tree IMO. Also an elaborate skull pot (Thos Holvila also does them) would distract from the excellent work on the tree. Just my opinion. Tree speaks for itself. Bats in the background reinforce without going over the top...just sayin.

Sorry all, I missed the Halloween update. With all the prepping of trees for this winter I ran out of time, I promise to update soon though.
I'm curious to see what you all think about the restyling I gave it this past spring.

Glad to know its still with you. As for a pot, my thought would be a simple burnish clay with no glaze might be best. Much like the pots used for pines. You don't want the texture of the pot to compete with the texture of the bark of the tree. The contrast between the smooth clay and the rough bark would highlight the bark. A rough finish on the pot would distract from the bark. Bats as a motif are good if you can find them, but avoid a glossy glaze. Unless it is one or two drips of bright red glaze, suggesting blood. But the red might be too theatrical.

I do really love what you have done with this tree.

Another thought, instead of a domed canopy, consider a drastically reduced canopy. You'd need to draw it out based on the branches you actually have, but I would think about jin for 2/3 of the canopy making for a more scary dead tree clawing at you look. Though a big, wide canopy with the menacing face glowering at you is quite an image too in its own right.

Just a thought.

Howdy Leo, Nice to hear from you! I will will hopefully get the time to trim it up and get some updated pic's, because I did exactly that. I reduced the canopy and put more bends and twists in the branches early this spring, I'm much more pleased with look. I still haven't repotted it but plan on doing it this next spring. I think I'm going to make my own pot as I'm struggling to find the correct size and look that I'm after. I liked @rockm Idea as well with a bat on the pot so that's a must.
Thanks for the input,
