I found this growing in my yard in 2021. I put it in pure organic soil because I had no idea what I was doing, but it survived a hole year in it.

the next year I got better soil for it.

I didn’t take many photos of this tree, since it was just a free practice tree. I decided to chop it short and now I this it has some real potential.

What’s the worst that could happen 😂 looks like you left plenty of foilage so hopefully it responds well. I’m wondering same thing as to when latest something should be chopped in season 🤷‍♂️
 
Keep it small, grow it out, whatever! These respond really well to aggressive training. Look for more of them and have fun. It’s a good way to keep you busy without messing with trees that can’t take as much abuse
