Not really getting more trees. Ha! Just organizing. It makes me feel better.
Just posting some my smaller stuff here. Some will be posted already. Everything is in training. I've been considering a plan for what to keep in my collection. Probably include just one XL bonsai, a few L, a few M, a few S, and a bunch of XS. Got other duties and hobbies that need my attention. I'd hate to develop and keep crappy trees around, because of lack of time. Will post more with time.

Japanese Flowering Quince

Hackberry (The larger image should have been shot from the other side for consistency!) I probably should carve the wound down some more. Growing out second section of the trunk. I'm inspired by the little Hackberries from Taiwan.

One of the seedlings purchased a year ago. I'd been growing branches on one side and wiring. A week ago chopped it back, pruned branches a repotted it. It's my first attempt at raft. Here it is with buds and branches extending.

The Japanese quince above restyled. Going slowly build up trunk mass and everything else. Fyi, I traded away the little Elm above. The Hackberry moving along slowly. Maple needs cut back and wiring next year.

An idea I've been considering on a Japanese maple. A sumo tree? A cascade? It was ground layered this year. Roots almost all the way around. Would like mame size with this one. Mame, :(not doing so well with what I submitted for the contest. I guess no good under pressure :D.

Thats sad contestents still alive or dead ?

Cutting the tall right trunk and build mini tree from the small left trunk is also an option or double trunk shohin size

I like the trunk on the right for taper. As for my entries, one passed away and another on the way.

What variety is this palmatum?
I also have one J. acer (probably atropurpureum) https://www.bonsainut.com/threads/unidentified-j-maple.26454/page-3 which I would like to ground layer but I am not sure if it will give new roots. I've been said that red varieties are not so vigorous.
The air layers I've done on this tree failed.

Happy new year! This one is the species Acer palmatum. Not any particular cultivar. It was actually a rootstock to a cultivar that had died. I haven't worked enough maples to really know, but the plain green Japanese maples have been a pleasure to work with. Always with strong shoots. Grow vigorously.
