Today we got into the upper 50s so it seemed like a good time to haul some trees out, dilute up a batch of lime sulfur, and go to spraying. I didn’t have many to treat this time, a J. maple forest, large trident, hawthorn forest, and single hawthorn so I only needed a liter. I used some lime sulfur that I got from Chewy pet products and diluted it 20:1 in a small handheld sprayer. To keep my pots from getting discolored and to protect the moss I covered each with heavy plastic like you use for vapor barriers and tucked it under the pots. I used about a half liter on those so sprayed the rest on my tridents and J. maples in the ground growing bed. In spite of taking care I still managed to get some on my hands when I was trashing the old plastic and inspite of washing them thoroughly several times I can still smell the sulfur on them—next time I’ll wear plastic gloves for sure. Now’s the time to take care of these mid-winter projects, soil mixing time will be upon us soon.

Here’s the post spray lineup drying in the afternoon sun.

I've sprayed maybe 15-20 days ago for the second winter season...well I hate how It smells, I can believe insect and fungus run away 😁...anyway it's better always to wear protective gloves and a mask

Looking good. Very nice. I love the idea of a future forest planting.

Also: Box of Nitrile/medical gloves 100 count from Lowe’s is a great investment. Bought them with my Bonide and Isopropyl Alcohol last week (spraying trees and cleaning tools). Long sleeve flannel and nitrile gloves 😇
