Tired of Crappy Threads

Well, I, for one, am not going to marry you, nor adopt you if you're gay, but this abortion option, though a bit after the fact, sounds intriguing in your case - VERY late term, but perhaps better late than never. :D

HA HA HA HA, that is funny:)

So, you basically hate gay people? That's so typical Creationist/American!

Emil,

I hope you were joking about "typical American". I have lived here (albiet only here) for 41 years and I have yet to meet what I would consider a typical American. We are a diverse country full of diverse people from all over the place. Even the people who are mulit-generational Americans are as different as the various regions of our country.

Martin

Martin,

That whole post was a joke. I was just trying to stay on topic in the BNut spirit of ad hominem attacks, racism, religious righteousness and all that.

Btw, how you feel about being an American and Americans in general is probably how most people in most countries feel about their fellow countrymen/women. Some others on this board should keep that in mind IMO.

Best regards
Emil

Thanks Chris - I wish more would speak up to that effect. I started browsing through here after BT went down - and I've all but quit coming back here.

I know you dont have to read the forum or can stop reading (and trust me thats exactly what I do) - but dang - its just ridiculous here. I come here for one subject only - if I wanted to argue or hear others argue about poli-sci I would get on my local paper's forum and argue with all the local white trash with internet connections (which I'm sad to admit - I do)

In my opinion (no need to tell me what thats worth) this forum wastes its potential with all these ridiculous political and religious banter. I have degrees in both, but I dont feel the need to come here blabbing nonsense because it has nothing to do with trees growing in pots and I feel its not the place.

I mean really - is that even too much to ask? I suppose I could start a thread about what the best flavor of unix is on here since I appear to have the right- but why would I? Im sorry - Im just not that bored or desperate for conversation.

There are plenty of other places to unload your opinion/frustration with (whatever) Why do it here?

I'm sure I wont be missed if I dont return - but I am only one person. Im curious how many other folks in the hobby (or getting started) will be turned away also?

Isn't the Karaoke Bar (off topic discussion) for this? If it were in the General Discussion forum, that's one thing, but if it's where it belongs...

Daniel

Really? From one nut house to the next?

With one post, no you will not be missed. You probably would not have stuck your nose in it if BT was still up, so give us a break. The karaoke bar is for exactly that type of discussion. Folks have a lot of burrs under their saddles these days. It feels goos to vent them off.

Now I feel a whole lot better. Thank you for your post and the opportunity to vent. :)

LOL! Joking or not, you've proven to be a typical European that thinks they know Americans (And wants to incite disdain for us). I'm american and a believer in ID......but nope don't hate gays......

What exactly is ID?

Intelligent Design. It's a term that some in the scientific community are dubbing the purposeful act of creation by a higher power.

I find it hard to believe

people are saying off-topic brawls only happen here. After years of participation on BT, I saw more than a few ideological car wrecks, not to mention a lot of people who liked to read those kinds of threads, and protested after doing so.:D

At the risk of continuing to beat a dead horse, Ryan, your post is exactly opposite of the reality of the situation. Intelligent Design is "young earth creationism" dressed up in pseudo-science with a new name to try to get state school boards to inject it into public school science curriculum. It has been proven to have no basis in science, and Michael Behe (its number one proponent) was shown to be exactly that in the Fitzmiller v. Dover Area School District case.

Chris

I am aware of that Chris. But I have also seen the term applied to other ideas that don't involve Young Earth Judeo Christian beliefs or agendas. It doesn't belong to one particular group.
Edit: (Though it did start with the group you refer to.)

Allow me to quote myself (post #22)

That whole post was a joke.

Anyway, I know "Americans" just as much as you know "Europeans". I have a number of online Americans acquaintances though, and none of them are like you or the way I described "Americans" in my earlier post. Do you even realize that Europe stretches from Iceland (which is closer to Greenland that the Norwegian mainland) in the nortwest to Turkey (bordering to Iran) in the southwest? Good luck to you in your quest for the "typical European" sentiment.

Best regards
Emil

Please don't talk down to me. I know what Europe equates to. The Europeans I have met on line tend to be arrogant elitists toward Americans when challenged at all....so prove me wrong....it would be refreshing.
One thing I don't get is your humor. You claim to be joking, but without tonal and facial expressions your on-line "joking" looks a lot like bashing. That's what smilies are for:D <------See.

Okay, I am only going to say this once. I only come here for one reason. There are only a couple of subjects that I expect to see.

if you can't keep it all about politics and religion, I wish you'd go somewhere else! Where do you get off posting about "Formal Bonsai Display for Discussion"? What do you think you are doing?

Ryan, this entire thread is based on sarcasm. It is sort of implied by the first thread (above). Every post is the opposite, or other than, what you actually feel.

You said to Emil, "You claim to be joking, but without tonal and facial expressions your on-line "joking" looks a lot like bashing." Relax, it is all supposed to be a joke.

Smilies are overused and worthless.
If someone can't figure out that I am being sarcastic or joking---its on them.
It's not that hard to tell really.

I once heard it said that an effective communicator isn't concerned so much about how they meant something to be perceived but rather how it was actually perceived by those who received it.

You have to admit that on-line communication can easily be mis-interpreted.

Sure it can. But most of the time its pretty obvious when someone is joking. I find people online to be hyper-sensitive.

That's on them.

I realize it's based on sarcasm....but based on Emil's last post here: http://bonsainut.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1737&page=51
where there wasn't any joking on his part, I figured he was once again boxing Americans in and trying to profile us......

And for what it's worth I don't really believe that ALL Europeans are arrogant elitists...that was sarcasm incase Pauldog and Emil wanted to know....or couldn't tell. hehehe
