Tiny Shohin Trident Maple... What to do

This, in my eyes is not looking too good. My other trident looks a lot healthier than this one. I know when they break bud they are droopy like that but something is telling me this isn’t just that.

what do you guys think?
Your tree looks ok but is a bit overpotted. Tridents thrive in warm and sunny spots, so I'd start there and let the soil dry out a bit between watering.

It went from a small pot to this larger pot this spring but is planted on a board that’s buried below the surface. It’s in a sunny spot but I will try letting the soil dry out more between watering. Thanks!

On his site, Brent Walston talks about Acer buergerianum 'Naruta kaede', which has naturally curled leaves and can look wilted to the uninitiated. Could be that variety?
That’s a cool variety never seen that before! It’s definitely not that it just looks a little sad to me the leaves have got a lot greener as they do but still looking sad.

I will get an updated photo up soon.

I ended up airlayering this tree and it seemed to remove the weird leaf curling and all the leaves that grew on the new roots were all perfectly normal. Must’ve been some kind of root issue? If anyone knows

Repotted today and got it into this small bonsai pot and I’m liking the direction it’s going in, there’s some long growth and branches I will cut off but will be using them for cuttings.
