Thinking of a tiny mugo forest

These are 2 year old mugos from seed. Do you think a really small forest would be fun? Forest trees are tall and straight but these are fat and curvy. Several pots of them.

Forests or at least clumps of trees in coastal and high mountains consist mainly of smaller, often twisted or bent trees. I believe that mugho are naturally a mountain species so your mugho forest could be styled as an exposed mountain grouping with shorter bent and twisted trunks.

Neat idea. You could even include one or more rocks as part of the forest composition to enhance the mountainside aesthetic.

Pinus muggo are the most mountainous of mountain pines (at least in Europe), one of their common names is creeping pine. They grow on the tree line and I have seen them as mature trees you could put in a pot and call it bonsai.

Got seeds from sheffields seeds, plant them outdoors in winter. In a milk bottle with holes in the bottom , 2” soil, and cap off.

Thanks!! I may try my hand a few then try something similar to what Rob posted or possibly imitate pines close to a rocky cliff so from seed would be perfect.

Create your forest in a large raised cedar planter. You could create a wonderful environment.
