****The Well****

I think it's a great concept and I think a lot of people could learn from this. BUT, something similar to this was tried with Walter Paul at BT a long time ago. He stopped doing it because he didn't like it when "Newbies" questioned his responses and "authority" on the subject. So maybe only humble "masters" need apply:D

Maybe only humble "newbies" need apply as well, smart-ass. That's exactly why you can count me out.

Typically I find that people who accuse others of having big egos are guilty of the same crime :)

In general, if you wish to ask someone a question in a public forum, feel free to do so. I don't think Walter, or Bill, or Al, or anyone who frequents this forum should need to create a "catch-all" thread for people to feel comfortable asking them stuff.

Additionally, I find that I learn more from people I disagree with than from people who share my opinion. For me at least, it is less about forcing my point on others than it is about understanding their position.

When threads get filled with meaningless, empty character assassination, I will step in and close the thread and/or edit posts. But if it is just an argument, I often let it run its course.

Tell you the truth rockm, I could have written that back at post #2, I don't think my remarks were aimed at you, but if you had an epiffany then ok I guess you could pat me on the back ,maybe someday buy me a brew.:D I just knew where this was going to go, we have seen it a hundred times on numerous sites.

Harry Harry Harry, thats in another thread.:p Does seem a shame that you didn't get a note or whatever as an explanation, as one of the donors I mean, at least a don't worry hang tight, or Sorry dude didn't work.

Aw, c'mon bill. I basically taped a target on my back...:D

I had no epiphany, just an upset stomach that made me cranky...:D

Feels like the good old days on Bonsai Talk, by the way when is it coming back.......
I wonder if I could get my 100 bucks back.

keep it green,
Harry

Don't feel bad Harry, your in good company. Besides a few personal donations from myself, we also donated a percentage of sales from the business

The important thing here is that we can get better at overlooking the faults of our fellows. That is a lesson that would serve everyone well wherever they go. :D

Further, I would very much like it if Grouper, Vance, Walter, Al, Tom and all of the many others whose work I respect and enjoy stick around and share what they know about bonsai. If you all overlook my MANY faults I will do my best to reciprocate.

As a sidebar, three cheers to Vic for standing strong on her convictions. I can only speak in generalities as I did not witness the events in question, but the way I was raised and the way I have raised my sons is that if a woman is disrespected around me the offending male is likely to have his head cracked like an over ripe mellon. ;)

Love to all!

Since it was quoted again. I never spoke derogativly abut women on stage. This is just a misunderstanding. I wrote a PM to Vic to stop this rumor and we are still friends.
BTW, the Ryan Frye thing is solved and it will not be raised again.

Some people are legends in their own minds, I pride myself on being able to hold my liquor, my wife disagrees however. My ability to spot a good tree and my horticultural skills are my best skills. You won't believe this but since I've been watching Marco for a number of years, I can style a pretty mean green mound. I don't have enough nerve to tackle a 2500 tree though. Some people take themselves to serious and I'm not talking about any special person. Everyone needs a little music in their lives, right.

A local artist, friend and this is what I call talent in another form , he plays by ear and can't read music, enjoy !

This thread has been totally entertaining! I visit a number of sports boards and the flame wars there can't even come close to bonsai flames. This one has presented cultural attacks, gender rants, and inside knowledge disclosures!

What is interesting about this forum is that quality artists and skilled amateurs can visit this place and offer opinions, ask questions, and toss poop!

The idea that started this thread was interesting, but alas few will ever agree to jump into the well.

Thanks for the laugh Will! :D It's been a long time since I've been called a "smart-ass". I have to agree with you on that though.....I have a sharp wit and sarcastic tongue at times and it doesn't usually help matters LOL

Yes it has been resolved and I'll say it here publicly that I'll refrain from now on in sharing my opinions about how Walter does or does not communicate.

Peace and Love my bonsai brothers and sisters!

I have found in my lifetime that I'ts better to be called a "SMART ASS than a DUMB ASS"

To see my name on that list, and at the TOP of it (! !), makes me think the "work" you refer to must be the efforts we put into being total jerks here! I can probably teach a lot about THAT. Bonsai? . . . not so sure. :D

Just random off the top of my head... ;) Just kidding ;) The trees you have shown lately have been really enjoyable. In all seriousness I could have gone on for pages listing the ones that have things they can teach me. Like I have said before, I have memories of IBC like 10 years ago with people that don't come around anymore. This is a loss to me.

We all have in common a love of trees that is a tie that binds... or should be. :D

Almost what Irene said, but ya stick around Will.

Mark I know what you mean.

By the way I don't know if anyone noticed that until this rose from the nether world we have actually had a pretty productive forum, there has been actual bonsai conversation for at least the last couple of months. Hopefully the right quota has been filled.;)
