I have a rogue cottonwood tree growing in a large pot. Disregard the twig stick keeping it company. I haven't pulled it out thinking it may have survived the winter.

Question, I am thinking that I am going to prune the cottonwood back by a third, from the top, and begin a new leader.

I don't want it much taller than it already is.

Thoughts? And thank you in advance.
