I think it should have been chopped a bit lower:p:p;).

Oh it will be. But it being boxwood that I can't seem to back bud, I will graft this first before chopping. ;) I mentioned this fact/plan in the thread as well.

Here is another boxwood that was collected the same day...

Same goes to this...it will be chopped a bit more too (but not as much) after some graft. ;)

You should check out the REBS channel on YouTube. There is a recorded demo about making boxwood into live oak style, and the demonstrator is ruthless with his cutback of boxwood.

Potentially a little present for myself from Andy Smith. Still mulling it over.

If anyone is more ruthless chopping boxwood than I am, I would definitely like to see it. Thanks.

Note the limitation I mentioned though. I cannot chop w/o leaving any green/foliage because boxwood do not backbud here (for some reason). I have to graft and wait for it to take before chopping, else I'll lose that branch. BTW I've mentioned this numerous times already. ;)

Part of my backyard...

Anymore I can take or leave boxwoods...they'd have to be pretty special to take. The favorite I've worked on, to date, was this one that my buddy and I styled in '04, repotted in '05:

Fall is in the air!... well it was. The last two days have been back in the 90's, but it won't be much longer and those of us up North will be enjoying fall colors! I don't see any reason we can't have this thread up to 60 pages by December if everyone throws in some fall color. :)

Don't forget your pictures! :)

Here's a little Serissa I've been working on for a couple of years. It's nothing spectacular, but it's beginning to ramify well; and it reminds me of the cottonwood's around here. :)
