The Shohin Tree Thread

Fantastic

I love that hornbeam clump and the juniper is fantastic

Here’s something I air layered off my third bonsai, a little ficus. I’m looking forward to wiring next year. I have other stuff too.

Nice trees, folks. Not to spam the thread (hopefully it encourages sharing) but this quince started budding out so I went and repotted it. Tonight it's inside while I test something with my greenhouse - someone was kind enough to give me opaque plastic to cover it with, and it's been much more stable since I put it up.

That said, we have some extremely cold weather coming.

While that is from a mountain in New Hampshire and not my back yard, I want to be very clear here - that is literally colder than Mars:

So I'm gonna go ahead and keep it inside tonight just to see how cold the greenhouse gets before putting this out there.

Anyways, I'm rebuilding this pseudocydonia into more of a cascade

Thats a cool Chinese Quince ..has it flowered or fruited for you yet? Killer pot too.

trees, please!

No it hasn't flowered for me but I've only had it for about a year and a half. I believe timing of pruning can make the difference between flowering and not for these, and I think I messed it up last year. I want to wire this, but I'm leaving it for after it hardens off and I defoliate.

Since each post requires a tree, here is an azalea. Based on the fat buds, unlike the quince, this one will flower for me come spring. I'm fighting the urge to put it in a pot this year, but officially for the police it should stay in a grow pot for awhile.
