The cooking thread

I've put a lot of effort into a recipe that just turns out bleh. I wouldn't have done that with chitterlings though. 🤢 Just my taste.
Yeah, it happens. Kinda how I'm feeling now. If it wasn't an all day thing to clean and cook them I'd feel different, but this has been rather anticlimactic. The end did not justify the means for me. If I knew someone who loved them, sure, totally worth doing again; but I don't, so it's not.

Took the plunge . Been on the fence for a green egg style kettle . Komodo’ style or a pellet grill . This from my research is a somewhat higher. Quality pellet . This was good deal last years model 25 percent off

pellet grill
Right sort of thinking. Preparing for long warm summer evenings!

Does it really say "wifi controlled"?
Call me old and old fashioned but.. Where is the world going if even the joy of grilling has to be linked to the internet. I can only hope it is optional and one does not need an internet connection to grill a steal.

Wifi connection is good for slow smoking. When it takes 7-12 hrs, it is good to be able to walk away from the smoker yet able to adjust when necessary.

It’s my first plunge into a smoker/grill so all new to me . The grill has a digital control panel . The wifi connection capabilities is . You can link it to your phone and control it with a app. But it’s not necessary. Reviews say best part of app is the chat with other owners . For tips and recipes.

For me I usually do super simple mix of 50/50 coarse sea salt and black pepper thick layer on pork shoulder or brisket and slow smoke it at 225 deg F with difference choice of hard wood. I start to pay more attention near the stall point and finish to make sure the smoker keeps good temperature and not stalls then dries out the meat.

I'm with @leatherback. To me it's all part of that lazy day around the house, focussing on good family, good friends, and good food. Throw in some garden work for a bit of spice. My favorite cologne is "wood smoke and earth."
Agreed but bonsai work . Like I said the pellet offers high degree of control precision, and the wood fire flavour . You can even change flavour of pellets . Ie apple. Hickory . Mesquite. For a novice smoker seemed the way to go

Again like I said novice what do you mean by stall point

I talked the Kroger butcher into selling me a prime rib roast for the price of the rib eye steak on special sale.
Somebody is gonna have a special smoked prime rib roast for their birthday.
