The comeback kid

Decided since it has been growing so rapidly even inside this winter that I would go ahead and repot it now to give it a bit of a head start before spring. Took Source's advice and moved it to more of a upright position (tilted it about 30 degrees to the right from where it was before).

Also noticed today that it has these pod type things starting on it. It's never got these before that I know of at least.

This is the first time I have ever had the pods on any of mine. So if I plant that seed it should grow then? How do you know when it's ready to plant it?

It won't be viable. It needs a special wasp in order to be pollinated. They just take energy away from the tree.

They just take energy away from the tree.

I think we had this talk before with @carp .....

I believe, because of the big attachment area, that leaving them is healthier for the tree....of course....I have no real idea.

And they are sooooo cute!

Not sure re potting a fig in January in Michigan is a good idea.
I usually wait until I can get the tree outside before I consider any root work.
And that's making sure my local nighttime temperatures don't get lower than 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
In my experience, in my climate, ficus grow better from this point forward.....
Careful with your watering and try not to move it around too much.
Keep it warm with good light.....let it dry pretty good before watering again.
Ficus are tough, but why push your luck?
Great potential for a nice, small tree.....:D

I did very minimal pruning of the roots when I repotted it, just snipped a few to freshen up a tad. I have my indoor trops under six 4ft T5 lights 15hrs a day and keep the room temps up which seems to keep my ficus's (is that the proper term? lol) growing well even inside. I repotted a different ficus last month and it's shooting new growth already so I don't think it'll be any problem. My other trees like my Fukien tea's though those I wouldn't think of repotting this time of year. They don't like me to even look at them cross-eyed while they are overwintering inside or they freak out and drop leaves :D

I usually pluck the figs off. Grab 'em firmly and give a twist. That's a bit after they have matured and have a bit of stem. They just keep drawing energy, not needed. Don't think it harms them at all. I only comment because I imagine our climates are a bit similar and, apparently, you keep your trees a lot warmer than me!!

It's a meat locker in here....yo' Adrian!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My trees are in the basement, but I do keep it warmer then most basements though. Mainly because I have a number of aquariums down there and if it gets too cool then the heaters have to work harder to keep the tanks at 78-80 degree water temp, so I try to keep the temps down there warmer so the heaters don't have to run so much. So the side bonus on doing that for the tanks is that my trees benefit from it as well. Nice set up you have there, I was just actually looking at those exact same metal/wire racks yesterday at Sams club and thinking about buying one for next winter.

May I ask what the hanging milk jug is all about? some form of pest control?

Nice grow room. I use similar shelves as well.
