Naturally growing seedlings are not allowed. I think the intent behind growing from collected or purchased seed, or starting from a softwood cutting, is the element of testing our propagation ability.
If you wanted to collect the seeds after the birds have eaten them and deposited them but before they have germinated, I think we can allow that, as you are essentially just allowing the birds to remove the fruit and engage in the scarification process. It would be like collecting a black walnut seed after a squirrel removed the outer fleshy part of the fruit. I personally prefer mail order. Lol.
