The 2023 Christmas Gift List thread

One Green house please! I was nice Santa...fine I'll take a hoop house. :)

Digging all these ideas. Titanium chop sticks? I don't need them but I want them.

Let's all give thanks for what we have on Thanksgiving then throw that out the window on black Friday, and pummel a stranger for a HDTV at Walmart. ;)

For beginner bonsai enthusiasts:
my go-to is little book of bonsai and a ficus

For intermediate:
A 25 pack of 3 gallon or larger grow bags are pretty nice. The 1 gallons are good for small starters. I like to roll the top over to make them a little shorter.

It's also a good website for shade cloth if the bonsai person in your life is struggling with summer heat

A gift card to conifer kingdom for people who still have space to acquire more bonsai

NAPA DE Oil Dri, because you can never have too much growing media

M12 Hatchet for the Yamadori collector in your life
and the hackzall for root cutting
I like the M12 versions for portability but each has an M18 version if you want longer battery life.
full disclosure: I may work for said tool company so I'm very biased.

For advanced:
copper bonsai wire in different sizes. There are a lot of places to shop around but make sure it's annealed copper.

Thanks BNut for this thread.
As you can see there is really an upswing In more of that online education platform so membership to BonsaiU , Mirai or Eisei-en can really bolster that time spent while our trees are dormant , you can sit dormant on the couch and soak of some Bonsai Heat.
For those practical folks that just want a helping hand , some bags of Akadama, Pumice and Lava can be great.
Or a tool such a scissors , concave cutters or root cutters. Concave cutters may be of a more versatile use. Let’s not forget that wire cutters exists , while the allure of a Japanese crafted bonsai wire can look enticing , you can also get by with a nice Knipex cutters but word for the wise , those pointed wire cutters can cut into the wood tissue so when you’re shopping be sure to find ones that have more blunted noses.
Next, for those little bonsai apprentices , Bonsaify is offering some cool clothes for kids that say “my dad/mom or uncle/aunt has great taste and knows what’s good” .

Brown mason stain, man. 10 pounds of it. I want to make some more unglazed pots, and all the good brown clays and slips seem to be low or medium fired, so I need to add some stain to my cone 10 recipes.

I have an oscillating saw on my list - it's the one tool that I can use that I haven't gotten around to buying myself.

I bought that Milwaukee Tools Fuel recip. saw this past spring. I've used it several times to prune landscape trees. Next spring, will use it to free up an "escaped" Korean Hornbeam forest from the ground. Works very well. Buy extra pruning blades 😁

I don't know what it will end being but going this Sunday for my "autumn run" through the nurseries... will toss some coin on new material/pots. Depending on what's available we'll see me X-mas gift...

That Lego bonsai

A new dremel because the bit release button on mine broke and literally nobody does repairs here
Two years ago, more than one person thought the Lego bonsai set would be a great gift for me. I’ve constructed one and may construct the other one with the flowering, cute frog pieces. 🤣😊

My wife got me one for Valentine's and I've finally worked it into my video call background.
