Local Lowe's, $22. Circling roots are going to make nebari an issue, but it had the nicest trunk of the half-dozen or so on offer.

...well, heck. On learning that I don't need to stick to just one tree, I went back for a larger one, just so I can compare how they do under my care.



I need to do some thinning of extraneous branches, but I think I'll leave that for another day - today settled for a good watering (both trees were pretty dry) and clearing out all the dead needles from the interior and top of the container.

I'm hoping for success just by numbers, clearly! Kind of like rabbits having vast litters in hopes one or two will turn out okay. Mostly I'm curious if a larger, more mature tree will be able to tolerate more work and shrug it off vs. a smaller tree.
