Systemic pesticides

Curious and honest question. Do you find that your new climate reflects the spider mite population? For instance we rarely see them up here unless they are packed along as a bonus from a more Southern location. Never really see them other then in our quarantine area on occasion when bringing in new plants.

Absolutely. I never had any obvious issue with spider mites through more then a decade of container growing junipers in MA. I've had issues with spider mites and fungal blights on my junipers every season since moving to GA.

Thank you - seems when I mention to others further up North that I have far fewer problems with most plants not grown down south on receipt they shrug it off. I know for a fact over the last several years because I do get Southern grown plants on occasion I MUST have a quarantine area to not only acclimate them but treat them for insects normally foreign to us.

On the other side of the fence the Southern growing season is much longer. I had a variety of 28 Junipers shipped to Alabama for growing out as that particular friend has lived with and grown with great success for over 40 years there.

I am having a handful sent up in early Spring to actually test in a non scientific fashion if the growth rate is actually impeded by outside factors such as mites etc... and perhaps makes no difference because our season is shorter.

Strange, OK so what? I get bored
