Soooo this little seedling was growing in @vancehanna 's backyard. He scooped it up and put it in what seemed to be the bottom fifth of a two-liter pop/soda bottle and gave it to my son and I during a bonsai study session at his house. In a few weeks we moved it into the first empty pot we found (mid-summer probably not the time to repot it but hey what did we have to lose) where it stayed for a few years and did fine.
In fact it seemed to thrive and this year we decided to work on it since we're stuck at home and the weather was somewhat nice. Here's the results. This first pic is from the first year.

The first major styling. Fine wiring and final pruning to wait until we confirm the thing is still alive...

I like it. Looks similar to mine which I think is Picea Abies.

So this has been in a pot now aproximately 6yrs? Looks like it was maybe 3 or 4yrs old when you got it. I think you guys did a great job in such a small amount of time.

Thanks! We've had it a little less than five years, got it summer 2015.

Nice job in 5 years. Im looking forward to seeing how mine does. From your experience when does yours start to extend new growth? I havent seen any indication of movement in mine. I have to go back and look at pictures from last year, I think.

Edit: last year mine started moving early May.

May seems about right. Honestly we've never paid much attention to it. Never thought it would amount to anything. But boredom from the lockdown made us think about styling it and voila.
What's yours look like? Have any pics?

Mine looks like yours did when it was born lol.

I would not have thunk you could strip the needles off the tops of branches with impunity. Rot's O' Ruck...

Cool. Was just a guess as it looks similar to by birds nest. But nicer!😉

In that case, that is the sickliest Norway I have ever seen. Call the Priest. My condolences.

Yeah looks super sick. 🤔
Almost half dead...
😂
