Species Study - Taxodium distichum

@Maiden69 Mine is showing at ups location preparing for delivery. Same thing. Looks like it will be a tomorrow delivery. 🙄
Check in a few hours, mine changed to "loaded on delivery vehicle" about 15 min ago. I looked at my past deliveries and the "out for delivery" email was usually sent close to 10am local... still hoping.

Mine just changed to out for delivery also

That makes 3 of us looking at the deliveries. I am anxious to see how my packings fare. The last shipment I decided not to put in any stuffing, trusting the bracing of the bottom and top to keep the tree form being jostled.

That is always fun, hopefully the shipping gods were kind to our packages.

Never a worry. I will make good if things don't work well.
I’m glad you sent ups not usps, my mailman gives 0 care about packages. They look like they were punted across the yard by the time they get here…. That’s if they even get delivered to the right house. Atleast ups can read addresses 😂

If you ever order from Mr.Maple, take a close look at the boxes they have made for the shipping, they are stupid good and they use no packaging at all, the box is all one piece and it folds in into bracing that holds the pot in place and the trunk of the tree. Toy could do the same with cardboard, or even the pink insulation foam sheets from Home depot, those are the ones that Mirai uses for shipping trees in bonsai pots.

Completely unrelated.. my Hasegawa cutting board was supposed to be delivered today and UPS downgraded it from "loaded into vehicle" to delivery tomorrow... BC is still on the truck according to them.

Yeah, USPS is a hit and miss, when they deliver it is great, then when they place it on the wrong box they are never found... damn crooked neighbors in a fancy neighborhood.

Hit and miss is right. I ship a flat rate box to FL and it made it there in 2 days, way ahead of schedule.
Then a few years back I sent an airline ticket to my kins in Priority Mail and the ticket was never delivered.

Am happy for all of yall. You won't be disappointed. As for myself... still waiting for Batman shipping cost quote.

I dunno. According to superhero ranking Hulk is more powerful than Batman and you already have Hulk.
PS: Batman is still deep in sleep. No sign of buds yet.

Meanwhile while enjoying a bowl of home made kimchi jigae...

This shows how fast BCs develop roots when collected at optimum time. This tree was collected 7 weeks ago just before bud breaks in the spring. Severe root pruning including cutting tap root was done. Tree was put in high organic cheap potting soil and watered multiple times per day. Same pattern of root growth was seen on all BCs collected at the same time in the spring. I have collected BCs in the summer and the root growth was not as fast.

Explosive growth at the top in the last 6 weeks resulted in almost 1/4” lip roll at the carving scar. I hope this continues.

Earlier this year I collected a bunch of BCs and kept them all long. The trees grew like crazy and I had a veritable forest. Today I decapitated nearly all of them. Most lost 25-33% of their length. A few lost half.

I want to add a couple images that show BC/PC is a really interesting tree. This is taken at my work place. At first I thought the brown patch is some dead weed.... and wondering why the clean up crew didn't remove it. Today I came out and inspected and realized it was roots that floating outside of the "container". I thought that is interesting...

i think this is one of the most beautiful tree species in the world...
just sayin 😍

This little creek suffered an incredible wash out during hurricane Laura. Only very large BCs remain on the banks. Everything else vanished. What is there now are huge BCs and 1 year old seedlings. Not much of anything else.
