The one I bought was styled by Matt Reel.

Looks like crab grass. Quite fitting for a pissed off old man!I found this gem sitting way in the back on one of my benches… If only the Carolina Bonsai Expo was going to be held this year!

Yes, the crabgrass is out of control this year. Lots of rain. Maybe that's why?I found this gem sitting way in the back on one of my benches
I think Dav4 will agree that here in Georgia we have had plenty of rain, but more importantly it has been timed well. This is the greenest August I can remember in a long time. By this point in most years everything is looking very tired. In the 80s, my first go round with bonsai, a visiting bonsai master only half jokingly asked "Do you guys ever have to water??" We have had to water this year but it has been a while since we have had rain as frequent as we have had it this yearYes, the crabgrass is out of control this year. Lots of rain. Maybe that's why?

Yup, lots of rain and ++ humidity this year have allowed for a bumper crop. This was on a bench that got watered regularly, but I bet I could take an old red brick filled with some Georgia red clay and set it out on my driveway, not water it all summer, and end up with a sweet accent like this pretty much every time.I think Dav4 will agree that here in Georgia we have had plenty of rain, but more importantly it has been timed well. I can't stay ahead of the weeds in my flower beds. Normally I can spray or pull them and I am good for 2-3 weeks. This year it was constant. I remember that hot October in 2019. I was putting on a xc meet. It was 95 about 2PM as the last of the kids were finishing. Luckily they all finished upright.Yup, lots of rain and ++ humidity this year have allowed for a bumper crop. Next week looks rainy and cooler... . fingers crossed it stays like that... all of September and early October, 2019 were HOT!
After an eight month plus hiatus, the redneck photo booth is back and open for business!

At this point, I'm unlikely to remove any branches, but will instead try to increase the density of foliage on them to create a fuller canopy with more pads.I really love the 2 black pines, they are looking great! Do you plan to remove some branches on the white pine, or keep a more symmetrical appearance?
