Soil formulas for bonsai in dry desert area

Spring is already here in Tucson! I have buds breaking on manzanita, Texas ebony, desert hackberry and more!

I wouldn't believe the tuna story without the pic!

F next spring! You'll almost certainly be using more soil this year!

My elms have been in leaf for 2 months already..... wondering if benefits out weigh the risk to change out the crapy soil at this point since the trees don't seem to be doing poorly.....Hmmmmmm
I have been monitoring the soil and super careful with watering.... a couple of yellow leaves but not dropping and still pushing new growth.

Wow, sorry for taking so long to reply, the Air Force has had me very busy. So I am going to acme in the morning and getting some supplies. @AaronThomas could you tell me the list you went there with. I heard they also have black lava rock, so I am going to get a few things to up my arsenal. Tucson Bonsai Society is the bonsai group. They have a Facebook page. Thank you all for all the great tips.

@Brandon Gilbert
And probably too late… I picked up quarter inch promise, cactus mix with decompose granite… And pine mulch . I had to sift the cactus mix with decomposed granite first with 1/16 inch and then with 1/4 inch. You'll have to sift the pine mulch as well !
