Show us Your Airlayers

I think we made great progress since 7/18. Hard to tell, but there is so many roots, the wrap is getting filled.

Separated and potted up today. Looks like I should've done it last weekend. With all the rain and high humidity we got roots started to die off. There was no foul smell and I think it's going to be okay. Also looks like it bridged and most of the roots are on the lower cut, but there are some on the top too.
We'll see how it does.

Separated the ficus benjamina airlayer started on 10/21. Forgot to snap a pic after I took the bag off, but there were nice roots all around. Not surprising with a ficus.
Nice to have something to play with in winter.

What type of root hormone did you use ? If any.
I used Clonex. Honestly I don't think it makes much difference with ficus. I also stuck smaller branches in water and after the white bumps started to expand planted them in a pot and the rooted beautifully.

That great to know! When is it preferable to prune? Anytime of the year? I wanted to prune mine for shaping, but didn’t want to lose a nice branch that could potentially be another beginning of a nice tree.

I am by no means a ficus expert. As much as I gathered from my internet searches it can be done any time as long as adequate aftercare is provided. Like nice warm and humid inside grow room in temperate climate. Mine are inside in a normal room, but heat vent output is diverted and I put a humidifier on for them here and there. And they have supplemental light. They do just fine, but really explode outside in summer. You might be in a better place in Cali.
There are plenty online resources for ficus care.
Jerry Meislik's blog is great. Unfortunately he passed away very recently.

Separated my first air layer attempt a few months ago. Nothing special but excited to see it worked!
