Should I be concerned?

Tradesmen, contractors, construction guys earn good money, I cant think why they'd want to jeopardise that for a few plants in pots. Definitely nothing to worry about!

Considering the upswing of bonsai thefts, I don't "show" my trees to NO ONE!
Cept another bonsai "buddy" who ..popped in.. to show someone MY trees.

This wasnt really a choice. We needed to get work done on the house and unless I find somewhere else to put 50+ trees for 3 weeks, they have to stay in my yard.

The last time somebody showed and interest in my trees, I sent them home with a seedling. When folks show an interest, I also demystify bonsai a bit by telling them that bonsai are just regular trees that somebody has taken the time to train by pruning and wiring them. I point out a few of my trees that came from big box stores, ā€œI got that one from Home Depot. That one came from Loweā€™s.ā€ A lot of folks in the general public think ā€œbonsaiā€ is a special species of tree. They donā€™t know that they could have one just by planting seeds or buying a cheap tree at their local garden center and working on it for a few years.

I seldom worry about the people who come to my place.
I worry about who they TELL about the trees.
