It was cut back earlier in the summer,but just seemed to want to push growth on the branch ends,ive also cut alot of the foilage off because it was so scraggly,probalbly from being indoors and not getting a long enough rest period,but it always does seem to push new growth,but in comparison to my other elms,i can see what you mean Smoke.

I suspect it will do fine. rmember, movement in branches is up and down as well as sideways.
