He just said he is in China...Start with Lowe's or a local nursery for young Junipers and practice good health, bending, wiring, etc.
They do look like shimpaku, trunk has not been touched so maybe that is what is throwing you off?They are being sold around $130 each and seller mark them as "shimpaku", however the bark doesn't look like a shimpaku to me.
I'm afraid they are grafted.
