Shimpaku before and after with a nod to member October (Rob)

I have always liked the junipers that Bnut member October (Rob) has posted on here. I had a shimpaku that was a big unruly mess, really not very good material, that I had just let grow for a while and decided to try to style in a similar vein. Here are the before and after results. I cut a lot off this juniper, we'll see how strongly it bounces back. The pot is a very old Sara Rayner, one her personal pots she told me. If I could shrink it now about two inches in diameter I would be happy, but my shrinking machine is in the shop getting worked on.

I REALLy like what you've done with this tree, Dave. Nice work. I especially appreciate how you removed the lower branches. This allows you to view the trunk and see the nice movement that it has. Well on its way to becoming a show stopper!

I am honored by this. Thank you Dave. Very nice styling. The image appears as if the tree is dancing. Every thing looks in place. At a glance, the tree conveys a beautiful silhouette. Nothing seems out of place, but it is also very natural... very nice.

This goes to show a tree does not need a huge trunk and cost thousands of dollars to be an attention grabber.

When ever I see bonsai in this kind of pose I always think of this guy posing =P

i think the tree looks really good the way it is.

if you were thinking about removing any branches, had you considered some on the right side? Just a thought to give it more asymmetry. what do you think?

That is kind of what I was thinking, Catfish. I am going to let the tree recover though, before removing anything else. Thanks for the suggestion.
