Winter Storm Warning for Izzy.

Not an ice storm, but we have ice.

Yesterday the temp struggled to get above freezing, not much better day before that.

From last nights low, the temp was up to 30 by 11am
With the temp hovering around freezing since noon It has been raining pretty steady.
I see Balls of ice bounce off the porch railing from time to time.
Forecasted to turn over to all snow this afternoon, it will be a heavy wet snow
unlike last weeks dry slick snow that stuck from the get-go.

The rain will ice over, now that it has soaked into everything, including tree crotches and branches.
Moderate strong NW winds are on the heels of this storm tomorrow with lingering snow showers.

Im hoping this warm wedge stays in place longer since it greatly diminishes snow totals.
One degree means everything. Ice/heavy wet snow/wind

Snow/Ice precipitation forecast.
Thankfully nothing like the TWO back to back ice storms last year that netted us ~.6" ice accumulation.
This map puts us around the 5+" of snow being on the W edge of the 3-6" zone I guess. Huntington's right on the line.
My body has not recovered from last weeks 7-9" snow we had.

Thursday I moved out all the plants I could having back issues, from the cave to get some good snow/moisture.
I brought up 5 of my procumbens so I could get some snow pics on them. Need to bring my mugo up too.
Thursday getting cold, so off the bench they will come at some point this week.

I just realised it was quiet. No more ting of the ice pellets on the vent.

...and just like that I missed the change over and we have 1/2" already.
Temperature is very stable low in upper 20's tonight high of 30ºF tomorrow.

My brother in Gainesville, FL said they're having temps down in the 30's and gusts to 45mph.

Well I guess my plan of moving to Florida to outrun the cold is not too solid. Maybe @Clicio has extra room at his new country house. ;)
Yup, and a tornado hit the Ft Myers area today too.

It's adding up here a little. I just got around to the 1st Winter application of Neem oil yesterday

I saw that on the news, we've been to Ft. Meyers. I guess everywhere has it's weather hazards. I wouldn't mind taking my chances in the Bahamas with a Bahama Mama.

My Reaction was for the snow.. not tornadoes.. Tornadoes scare me.
They are scary. The last one that affected us was when I was in the ER with my dad. Coming home at 2:30 in the morning, I had to dodge trees/ limbs on the road and couldn't get down our driveway because of the debris. In the morning we saw the tree that fell on dad's house.

Can't hardly tell the 1st one is a formal cascade now.
Will have to put my boots on to get pics of the mugo and Mountain maple.

Now the winds are picking up with a bit of ice beneath :(. Started the generator last week and put the trickle charger on it.
Got the propane logs and burner cleaned out yesterday evening, and fired them up :)

I'm about 200m/320km south of the arctic circle by road and 120m/200km straight line. I think we are just over 4 hours of "day light" now. Sun doesn't really come up, It makes an appearance on the horizon for a little while.

Here is some random time lapse video of winter solstice close to where I live. I'd suggest watching it at 2x speed it's pretty boring.
Id rather see the summer solstice.

That would be the preferable time to visit. You should come up at least once if you haven't yet. Bonsai scene is nonexistent up here but it is beautiful and we have do have plenty of trees to look at.
So many Birches and Firs!!!
(I'll bet)
