Share Your MAPLE LITERATIS

My first maple literati attempt. This was a J.maple in a club members garden until Winter 2022 when I got it. I made some large chops, gently wired some branches down, and tried to go for a bonsai look quickly. I have a nasty scar to deal with now. Let me know if you have suggestions. Cheers

The first thing I thought when I read the title of the thread was "why would someone literati a maple?" I actually don't care for the style, but saw a number of really nice trees on this thread and though maybe I don't actually understand what a literati is. Thought they all had that weird hanging down part, but seems not to be the case.

It's a style that would serve an Arakawa or another rough-bark maple quite well I think. @LeoMame 's tree is also pretty striking- just imagining it with nice warty bark.

Of course very easy for me to type out, as I do not, in fact, have any arakawa.

I just posted this small trident in an update in my Trident thread, which I think classifies as a literati. Waiting for it to lose it's leaves so I can start working on the branching now that the trunk has been developed. I've grown this one from seed over the past 3 seasons. I'll post an update in a week or 2 once it's leafless.

This is the tree I’ve taken inspiration from:

3 seasons and already that big ? Wow !
Very nice project. Very "unrealistic", but very nice. 👍👍👍
It’s small, you can see my hand in the first pic holding the pot. It’s probably around 20cm from pot to top of the highest point.

Unless you’re saying that’s actually good for 3 years? You should see the ones in my grow bed after 3 years 🤣
