This guy occupied a strategic post in the yard over a tile for a number of years, but I had to rescue him in haste last season when my wife led a successful assault cross no-man's-land to reclaim territory lost in an earlier campaign. He lost several limbs in the conflict, obviously, and suffers from horrifying nightmares, but he's alive, and sure to get superb treatment at the large VA offshoot I've set up for numerous such veterans.
He will not win many awards or medals, I'm afraid, but his character and his valiant heroism against such a ruthless enemy has earned him a place in my heart.
