Wrap with raffia. Add black tape. Wire with 2 strains of 5mm aluminium wire and bend in the shape you want.

Do not overthink it. This is neither an extreme bend, nor a thick branch to bend.

But isn't bending nature for aesthetics the basis of bonsai?

Only if it can be done to look natural. Bending larger branches to a pleasing shape is a rare achievement. To be effective and pleasing a branch like that needs to be shaped by bending it in multiple directions. A single one dimensional bend will always look manipulated and 99% of the time that is the only outcome from these attempts.

Sure it can be bent but my point is will you be satisfied with the outcome?? Not likely unless you only have very low expectations.

Glad I wasn't the only one who wanted to bring it up.
You have a tree naturally going for a windswept or cascade look, but then you want to force it into an informal upright?
Even if the branch placement isn't perfect, a chop at an existing branch that's heading that direction would be much safer, and probably look better in the end, IF you want to throw away what you already have.

If you don't like the way it's going on it's own, maybe just find someone to trade with.
