Funny thread. Welcome to the nut house. People here are actually really helpful and knowledgeable. It was the notion of shipping a tree from Japan that got people spooked. If you were trying to sell it you’d be toast. LOL.

If you’re interested in bonsai, this is the place to be. A little advice - next time someone says something about illegality or whatever, give them the bonsai answer - “it depends.”

I with you triple B! That's about as rough as it gets around here and you handled it well. Serissa are a little tough to grow, I killed mine, not on purpose.
