Scrap pile revival or Pre-firewood? Looking for ideas

I am taken by the 'pre-firewood' concept.

... just in general.

I don't think this tree is good 'pre-firewood', though. It first needs to be repotted (as discussed) and then undergo several years worth of diligent, fruitless development effort before it can be 'pre-firewood', IMHO.
The pre firewood comment was more about my ability to potentially keep it alive and change it's fortunes from the condition I purchased it in.

Idk.. says they transplant readily... idk why youre having so much trouble @Wires_Guy_wires. I cant imagine something that transplants readily would be so picky with it's roots.
Gardening manual transplants (take out of a pot, tease the roots a little, put it in a bigger pot or the ground) are different than bonsai repots (get rid of the old soil, replace with bonsai soil, reduce pot size). I've read the same thing, but the stack of communis corpses worldwide proves different.

I essentially slip potted and teased the edges. Here's to hoping he survives!

How and when would you feed it ?
Whatever you have laying around, moderate dosage. If you go too heavy on them they can burn their tips.

The long arduous task of making kindling 😂

I definitely didn't go full bonsai repot, I did tease the edge and put in loose soil around the edge.

At worst it will make great kindling in a year 😂
